Yahara Therapy
Your Visit

My goal is to answer any questions you have about massage therapy and my practice. Please call or e-mail me to discuss questions or concerns not covered here: (608) 240-9327 or .

There are limits to what I legally and ethically practice, so if you are uncertain about what to expect, please do ask in advance.

Scheduling
When you call or e-mail me to book a massage therapy session I will get back to you as quickly as possible with available openings.

I can generally make an appointment with you within two weeks from the time you contact me, and often sooner if you'd like an appointment on a weekday during the day. I can schedule recurring appointments well in advance.

My Office Space
Because my practice is based in my home, I will send the office location and directions to you once we confirm. I do not advertise the address to assure confidentiality and security for both you and me. My office requires that you be able to use stairs. If this is a problem, please let me know.

I strive to create a safe space that provides comfort and peace of mind for my clients. I use only non-toxic, all-natural cleaning products and I do not use scents or perfumes in the space, other than lightly scented massage creams chosen by each client. We decide together on what massage creams to use so that your session is as safe and pleasurable as possible. I always offer safe, unscented products.

I try to be as light on the earth as possible in my practice. I power my space with 100 percent wind power, use low lighting and energy efficient light bulbs, and try to increase efficiency at every opportunity.

Gathering Information
After we set an appointment — depending on the time frame and your preferences — I ask that you complete a few intake forms. You can download the forms in PDF format:

Or, I can send them to you via e-mail or U.S. mail or you can complete them here at my office, prior to your session.

Intake paperwork includes my complete client policy, a health intake and a waiver to sign. While I utilize the information I gather from your health intake, I do not treat medical conditions, nor am I considered a medical practitioner. If there is any question about the safety of massage therapy for you, I will refer you to a medical provider or another professional who can safely assist you.

If you have any concerns about safely receiving massage due to health issues, please contact me in advance to discuss the situation.

Additional paperwork may include appropriate authorization if the client is a minor as well as release of information if you would like me to consult with another professional prior to our session.

Your confidentiality is of utmost importance to me, and I will not share any of your information except with other professionals at your request and with your authorization.

The Day of The Appointment and Your Session
Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows us time to check-in and cover any questions. It also ensures you time to get comfortable on the massage table and me to make any last-minute preparations. If you arrive more than 15 minutes early, I may be finishing with another client.

Your comfort and safety are paramount. I will check in with you prior to each session, even if we have met many times.

Please plan to turn off your telephone during the session. I will turn mine off also.

I want you to make choices about the session so that you are most comfortable. The amount of clothing you wish to wear is up to you and based on your comfort level. I will strive to make the temperature comfortable and ask that you tell me if you are too hot or too cold. I can play music you like or even play something that you bring. I provide water and have a restroom for your convenience.

During the session, I will check in with you as necessary, but otherwise I allow you the quiet space that you may need. Talking is OK, but only if it is what you choose.

Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat, on the floor (see Types of Massage to learn more). Wear clothing that moves easily without binding or bunching. Clients often become cool during the session, so plan to wear socks and clothing in thin layers, or bring an extra layer.

Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or change your appointment, I ask 24 hours' notice by telephone so that I have the opportunity to re-book the time. Phone: (608) 240-9327.

If I am not available when you need an appointment, I am happy to refer you to another highly trained professional bodyworker in the area. My hope is that you find the work that you need, when you need it.

If you are ill or in acute phase of injury, please contact me to reschedule your appointment, as it may not be safe or healthy to work together. I will also adhere to this, and may occasionally need to reschedule if I become ill.
